Family time in Kamloops

We have just spent the first four days of this journey in Kamloops.  We camped at the only site available in the immediate vicinity of the city.  Due to conferences etc,,,,everywhere was booked solid.  Kamloops boosts being the “Tournament Capital” of BC, and they do have many golf courses and beautiful sports parks and recreation centers.  There is always some sort of tournament or conference going on.  What they do lack is good RV campgrounds.  There are some forestry (Paul Lake) or Provincial (Lache La Juene) camping areas in the area, but we want to be fairly close to town just to save on driving time to Tanya and Dean’s.  Okay and truth be known,,,,,we want all the hookups that we can get.  Water, electric, sewer, wifi and whatever else we can get.  Some of you might be thinking,, “why don’t they just stay in hotels”.  That is okay, I sometimes think the same thing.  But we like having our own bed, bathroom and cooking space.  Yup, “glamping” is our style.  Anyway, two of the sites we have stayed at on our previous trips to Kamloops are “Silver Sage” and “Kamloops RV Park”.  (There was another one, that I won't mention as it was awful!!) Both of these have very small sites.  No room between each other.  In fact the site we had (Kamloops RV) a nice big picnic table, but it had to share the space with our truck as the truck wouldn’t fit in the front or the back of the 5th wheel.  Wasn’t really so bad except when Keaton was there he really had no where to play.

Speaking of Keaton.  I have to say that he is quite the little helper when dinner time comes.  I think he needs to get the award for the best salad maker!! He rips a mean lettuce leaf with gusto!

Nana, Let's do a selfie!

He had a sleepover on our first night, Mama had to stay too, which was great!  Tanya and I could partake in a few beverages as she did’t have to drive home. Ray was off visiting with a couple of travellers from Fort St James.  The highlight of our trip was being able to attend Keaton’s 3rd birthday party.  Last year we missed his party as we were on our “High Fuel, Don’t Care” trip across the country.  The party was held in Westside Park, which is a very nice park along the Thompson River.  They have a nice splash pad area for the kids (and possibly for a certain Nana) to cool down.  (No photos of that, but the first photo on this post is me cooling off in Keaton's little splash pad at home!  It was remarkable!)  It was 33 degrees, so it was an essential part of the festivities.  The park also has a playground and even a petting zoo.  Ray says it is not a "petting zoo"....(the Prick, doesn't want to write this thing,,,,but wants his 2 cents added).   So it is a animal enclosure where you can feed the animals while leaning over a fence.  (how does that sound Mr Piggins?)

We left Kamloops this morning shortly after 9:00 am.  Excellent drive through the back of Kelowna on highway 33.  I don't recall every driving this way, although Ray tells me that we have.  I must have been sleeping, or maybe working on a previous blog??  I know I would remember the drive as it was a slow lazy drive with very little traffic.  Nice for a change, rather than going through downtown Kelowna, West Kelowna etc.....way too busy!!!  Tonight we find ourselves checked into the campground at Christina Lake Golf Club.  Do you know what they gave us???  A golf cart!  It is included with the camping even for us two birds who no longer golf.  They just wanted us to come from our site back to the clubhouse!!!  Which of course we did.....had some wings and some defried avocado balls!!  I didn't know that avocados had balls!!!  We are now back at our site for the rest of the night.

Tomorrow we are crossing into the US of A and will skirt around Spokane towards Montana  (if the navigator can figure out the route).  Wifi may be sketchy once we cross the line, but will try to get the next post up in the next few days.  Ray wants the computer to pay some bills,,,,,,,,someone has to pay them!!!  So I will sign off and leave you with these photos of my new ride and our camp site at Christina Lake.

Sleep well and hug your family,

Lori and the Tard (opps,,,I mean Ray)
